15 years in a cage, and only 5 days to commit revenge. I am not a fan of Asian cinema. Many Korean films I have seen are particularly cruel to humans. I’m not going to say that this movie is more or less violent because I don’t have a cruelty meter. But that’s exactly what it is.
Retribution, revenge — an old theme in cinema, still vividly practiced. However, as reflected in this film, I have not seen it anywhere. Two people for whom revenge is the main goal in life: one lives for revenge, the other takes revenge for 15 years of his life. And the main question that the main character asks: “If I am worse than the beast, why do I not have the right to live?” is not that paradoxical in this film, but it is meaningless.
The film does not leave much thought behind. However, you can watch what is happening on the screen without stopping. And mostly thanks to the amazing game of Min-sik Choi.
